Chief director Harutoshi Fukui has suggested that the Space Battleship Yamato franchise may continue following the conclusion of the Be Forever Yamato: REBEL3199 series. Speaking to Mantan Web, Fukui addressed questions regarding a potential sequel after the release of Chapter 7: Rainbow Samsara, which serves as the finale for the seven-part remake. He offered a tentative response, noting that another entry might exist in the future.

The final film opened in Japanese theaters on October 30, concluding the narrative arc where Earth faces invasion by the Grand Reverse and the Yamato crew voyages into unknown dimensions. While no official confirmation exists for a direct follow-up to this specific storyline, the broader franchise remains active. A new animated feature titled Space Battleship Yamato √2199 was announced earlier in October, with Hideaki Anno set to co-direct alongside Yutaka Izubuchi.

CBR Anime reported on October 6 that Hideaki Anno is co-directing a new Space Battleship Yamato film. AniTrendz revealed the same day that the Space Battleship Yamato √2199 film includes a teaser visual. Crunchyroll News confirmed the announcement of the Cosmoship Yamato √2199 anime feature film on October 6. Anime News Network also reported on October 2 that the Star Blazers: Rebel 3199 film revealed its ending theme music video.
