Love Live! Superstar!‘s cute and eccentric idol girls have done their best to get through the harsh cold of winter by bathing and enjoying themselves, before eventually participating in yet another concert that will have otaku emptying their wallets when they get physical releases.

The cherished Onimusha series is making a return of sorts, albeit not in the form of a game but a Netflix anime adaptation, which will have some critics wondering if it’ll be decent as Netflix productions tend to vary in quality.

Onimusha is a video game franchise that contains various Japanese historical figures and mixes in elements of the supernatural.

The Netflix anime’s chief director will be Takashi Miike, Shinya Sugai will serve as director, Sublimation was chosen as the animation studio, and Toshihiro Mifune is serving as the model for character Musashi Miyamoto.

According to Netflix, the anime will follow Musashi as he attempts to defeat the Genma during the Edo period of Japan:

The beginning of the Edo period, Musashi is no longer a young man. He departs with the legendary Oni Gauntlet to defeat the Genma. 3D CGI characters and hand-drawn backgrounds create phenomenal visuals. Onimusha is given a new life using modern-day animation technology.

Various updates have been provided regarding the upcoming NieR Automata anime, and there are now brief glimpses at the explosive action scenes and characters 2B and 9S, while creator Yoko Taro also uttered that the anime will not entirely copy the game’s story.

The anime will be called “NieR Automata Ver. 1.1a” and was named as such because it “wouldn’t be interesting to simply copy the game’s story as-is in the anime”, according to Yoko Taro.

The NieR Automata Ver. 1.1a anime will debut January 2023.

The Netflix Sonic series, Sonic Prime, has been teased with a rather fast-paced trailer, revealing that several classic Sonic characters will be making an appearance and bound to have many hoping the show will do the franchise justice (as the games often do not, according to fan opinions).

The brief look at the show naturally contained a surplus of running as characters such as Shadow, Sonic, and Big appeared:

The winter 2022 premiere for the show will be 40 minutes while 24 20-minute episodes will be available afterwards.

Chibiham, Juicy and Me is a new upcoming anime film that boasts 3D CG and uses motion capture (courtesy of studio Ains), though, some critics might have harsh words for the upcoming work as it boasts some rather odd, low level 3D CG, with the technology rather frequently producing poor results.
