Crunchyroll added a new television anime adaptation of the Sgt. Frog franchise to its streaming catalog on Friday, debuting worldwide outside of Asia with English subtitles. The series is titled KERORO☆ and features an entirely new voice cast distinct from previous installments. Key personnel include chief director Nobuhiro Kondō and series director Akihiko Sano at BN Pictures, with production cooperation from Bridge and AISLE.
The show follows Sergeant Keroro, an alien soldier whose invasion mission was aborted after his troops discovered human fascination with dissecting comrades. Now stranded on Earth, he spends his time using a vacuum cleaner rather than engaging in warfare. This release follows the June theatrical debut of the 20th-anniversary film project, which featured a returning cast from earlier anime entries.
